Today is my 25th birthday, and I should currently be on the train on my way down to Dublin for a couple of days.
I don’t know why more than any other birthday, but turning 25 seems like more of a milestone birthday than 18, or 21 for some reason. I know that 25 is not old by any means, but I think the realisation has finally hit me that I’m definitely in my mid-twenties, without a doubt. I’m no longer a student with endless amounts of time. I’m a husband, and have a job, and responsibilities. On the other hand, I don’t have a mortgage, and still have time to decide what I would like to do with my life in the future.

Recently I read an article on Relevant Magazine about being 25 – 11 Things to Know at 25(ish). I suggest going to read the full article to see what the author thinks is important at 25, because I’m not going to mention every point here.
Get out of debt and stay out of debt - I think this is important, and Lorraine and I are very lucky that the only debt we have is our student debt, and that’s the way we hope to keep it. I’m currently reading “Money – God or Gift?” by Jamie Munson, to try and get a better understanding of what the bible says about money, and how I should use it. I’ll post at a later date about the book.
Be a Part of a Church - again something that’s on my mind very much at the moment, but I’m not going to go into any detail.
Feed Yourself and the People You Love - I love to cook, when I have the time that is. Lorraine and I also love to have guests. I think that some of the best times you can have with friends is over a meal. One of the last things that Jesus did before his crucifixion, was to break bread with the disciples, and I think we should follow that example and enjoy meals with our friends and family.
A couple of things that are in the article that I’m not sure what to make of, I don’t necessarily disagree with them but I honestly just don’t know what to make of them.
Get some counseling, and seek out a mentor – Are these things that I should think about, and consider acting on? A mentor perhaps, yes, I think I can see the benefits of that, but counseling? Do I really need counseling?
Do any of you have any thoughts on the mentoring or counseling?
