Hopeful Prints

Recently, a group I have been involved with, Tell it in Colour, have held a couple of roadshow events. These events were a mixture of story telling, music, art, photography, all with the aim of sharing a glimpse of hope, in areas that often seem hopeless.
As part of that, Jennifer McNeill and myself worked on a little art/photography project.
Jennifer created a little art piece, a ball made of different strands of coloured string, each strand representing a story of hope. I then took this piece of art around Belfast, to places that don’t immediately strike you as being hopeful places, and took photos of it in the various locations.
I got these photos printed and mounted on foamex to display at the roadshow events. These photographs are now available to purchase. There is currently only one copy of each photo printed, and the photos will be limited to 5 copies each.
The photos are displayed below, with the dimensions of the prints beneath. If you are interested in purchasing one, please just email me on connor@cmc-photos.co.uk , leave a comment, or contact me on Facebook.

Should I Blog or Should I Go?

In the age of Twitter and Facebook, and using those mediums to share content that I like, is there a need for me to blog? I have been thinking about this recently, as my web hosting is due for renewal, and I am debating whether to renew it and continue blogging or whether to call it a day for my blog.

XKCD blog

Maybe if I tried I could blog more regularly? But should I have to try to blog, or should it come more naturally? I don’t know. I only have a couple of weeks to make up my mind, so watch this space.
Any of you have any thoughts?

House of Blues

Over the series of House M.D. there have been occasional episodes where House picks up an electric guitar and sits down and plays some blues. These were great little scenes in the episodes, but what I didn’t realise was that Hugh Laurie is actually a pretty talented blues musician.

Hugh Laurie

Two weeks ago I heard someone on Radio 2 (possibly Chris Evans, I can’t remember), talking about Hugh Laurie and his upcoming album. Then on twitter, Stephen Fry tweeted about the same thing, so I had a little look, and sure enough discovered that Hugh Laurie has recorded a blues album, which will be released on 9th May.

Hugh recorded a session in New Orleans which you can view 3 songs from on the Guardian website. Now I’m no expert when it comes to blues music, and I wouldn’t say I listen to a lot of the blues, but I do find this genre very easy to listen to, and just generally chill out to. I really enjoyed the three songs that I have heard from Hugh, and am looking forward to his upcoming album. Are any of you blues fans? What do you think of the music that Hugh Laurie is making?

You can see a couple more videos and find out a bit more about Hugh and his music on his website, www.hughlaurieblues.com
