Closer to the Edge
I am not the worlds biggest motorbike enthusiast, not by any stretch of the imagination. However, last year, I headed up to the North West 200 for the weekend, and really had a great time.
A few nights ago, I went to see, TT3D, a movie documentary about the Isle of Man TT. It was fascinating, really really interesting. The movie focuses on Guy Martin, who has been on the podium at the TT 8 times, but never as the winner. The story of Guy’s journey and attempt at the 2010 TT is pretty captivating, and honestly had me on the edge of my seat.
Now because I’m a bit of a photography nerd, I really geeked out over the cinematography. The movie was shot in 3D, as it seems nearly every movie is these days. To be honest, the 3D was good, but the movie would have been equally as good without it. What really stood out for me was the lighting, the angles, and brilliant use of steady cam for the shots of some of the bikes going around the track.
If you are interested in biking at all, or just interested in documentaries (especially if you watched ‘The Boat that Guy Built’) I would definitely recommend going to see this film before it’s no longer in the cinema. It’s NW200 race week here in Northern Ireland at the moment, so I’m sure you will find a cinema here somewhere showing it.
