There has been a lot of talk on the news recently about the death of the high street. I heard last week that Jessops in Lisburn had closed down, and when I was in Ballymena at the weekend noticed that the Ballymena branch of Jessops has also shut its doors.

Somewhat out of the blue, the lights were off and there were signs in the window saying that Belfast now the nearest store. I haven’t heard any news as to why the shops have closed or what will happen to the staff.

The Ballymena branch is still listed on their website, and there has been no information on the news about the stores closing, but regardless of the reason, it is one more closure in the Tower Centre. It’s a real shame.
