London…

So, I was in London last weekend, in fact this time last week I was probably on the tube on my way to try and find the hostel.

I didn’t really want to do the big tourist things in London, like the eye, Houses of Parliament, Downing Street etc, mainly because I’ve done them about 3 times in the past year. So I went to London planning to do some stuff I hadn’t done before, then it dawned on me that the weekend we had chosen to go, was the weekend of both the Lord Mayors Show, and Remembrance Sunday, so lots of stuff was closed, and London was really busy.

I had wanted to go in around St. Paul’s and Westminster Abbey, but both were closed due to the weekend events. I did however get to go to the Tate Modern which I enjoyed, for an hour, I can only take pretentious modern art in small doses. Having said that most there was a lot of it wasn’t modern bull… there were a couple of good gallery’s of photographs I enjoyed. We stood in the rain and watched the Lord Mayors Parade for a bit, which was ok… and the fireworks that evening were pretty good as well.

I think the thing I enjoyed the most about the whole weekend though was getting to spend a weekend hanging out with friends, not having to worry or stress about uni or anything for a few days, which was really nice. I got to catch up with some friends who have moved to London over the past few months, and just generally relax.

When Lorraine and I were both home from our trips over the summer we decided that we would like to get some engagement photos done. Ignoring the fact that we have been engaged now for 4 months, London was the first opportunity we had to get them done. Emma very kindly did the shoot for us, which involved eating cupcakes and drinking Starbucks, so that kept me pretty happy. Check the photos out on her blog or Flickr, Lorraine and I are really pleased with the photos… thanks Emma.

All in all it was a great weekend, and lots of fun was had… here are a few snaps, a few more from my film camera will follow soon…
