Sherlock
I have never really paid much attention to any of the stories of Sherlock Holmes very much. I knew there were some novels, and an old tv series. Recently however I have become more interested in the stories. With the big screen movie last year and the recent BBC drama series, which was fantastic, some of the best TV I have seen. If you haven’t seen the recent TV show I suggest buying it on iTunes, it really is excellent. Here is a little teaser.
After watching the TV show, I decided I would read some of the Arthur Conan Doyle novels. I found out that the Sherlock Holmes novels are out of copyright, and because of this are available as free ebooks, through the Gutenberg project. I have downloaded all the novels and short stories, and am making my way through them in order. I started with ‘A Study in Scarlet’ and have just finished ‘The Sign of the Four’.
If you are not reading anything at the moment, or are looking for something to read, I highly recommend the Sherlock Holmes books.
Leave Only Footprints…
As many of you who read this blog will know, I love traveling, and I love photography. So I decided to do something kinda random, I have created and published a book of some of my favourite photographs that I have taken while on my travels. The book contains about 70 or so photographs covering, London, Morocco, Bangkok, several places in Australia, Fiji, Vancouver, Seattle, Colorado, and New York City.
I don’t know how many of you, or how may people in general buy ‘coffee table photo books’, so this is a little bit of an experiment I guess. The book comes in two formats 8×10 inch Soft Cover, and 8×10 inch Hardcover Imagewrap ( Imagewrap means that rather than the cover images being on a dustjacket, they are actually printed directly onto the book).
The softcover book is £19.95
The hardcover is £27.95
You can see a preivew of the first few pages of the book in the Blurb Bookstore.
Click on the book cover above, or you follow this link to the book
EDIT: So far the book has had about 220 views, no sales as of yet thought. If you want to help me out, but can’t afford or don’t want a copy, feel free to help me spread the word about it via your blog, facebook, twitter, whatever… thanks…
Reading…
I didn’t manage to get 4 books read this past month unfortunately. It turned out to be a rather busy month, the books I did manage to read were…
- Prince Caspian – C.S. Lewis… I love the Narnia books, I have done since I was small younger, and with Prince Caspian coming out in the cinema this summer I figured I would read it again, because its been so long since I read it.
- Going All the Way – Craig Groeschel… This book has the subheading, preparing for a marriage that will last, but its not a book totally about marriage. Its more about relationships and preparing yourself for marriage in the future, I would recommend this book whether you are single, dating or married, really good advice in it
- Down Under – Bill Bryson… This author is so so funny, I was actually laughing out loud reading it the other night, I think the other customers in Starbucks were a little freaked out… This travel book so far is stories of Bill’s experiences in Australia and it is also filled with history and facts about Australia… even if you have no plans to visit Australia soon i would say read this, its really entertaining, and will make you really wanna visit the country..
