Apple iPad

So I got sucked in by the whole iPad thing. Although I do think it will benefit my photography. When meeting clients, I can use the iPad to show them their finished work. When on a location shoot I can use the iPad both as a back up device and to give the clients an immediate preview of the photos, and I can use it as a digital portfolio to show my work to people. I have already had an opportunity to do this, and it gave my photography a more professional feel.

Other things I like and will use it for are reading e-books, and magazines, such as Wired, Time, and Digital Photographer magazine. So far I love the iPad, will post some more thoughts after I have used it more.

Hipstamatic

You all know I love photography, and have a keen interest in particular in film photography. So when Steve put me on to the Hipstamatic app for the iPhone, I fell in love with it. The developers of the app say, ‘Digital Photography never looked so analogue’, and they are right. The app emulates film photography, with its muted tones, high contrast and vignettes.
The app comes with some lenses and film built in, and you can buy extra packs such as black and white film. I don’t always take my digital SLR or film camera’s out with me, so it’s nice to have an app that makes such good use of the iPhone camera, and turns it in to something pretty decent.

Hipstamatic photos will be probably be appearing more and more on the blog, and on my flickr stream.

Just a Warning…

My blog may go through some appearance and functional changed over the next few days. I am trying to set up a couple of blogging apps on my iPhone but they are not workink, the troubleshooting suggests deactivating plugins and selecting a basic non customised theme to check the error.

Hopefully I can get it all to work soon and things will be back to normal.

Update: I have given up trying to get the iPhone blogging platforms to work. I have tried everything except completely wiping and reinstalling wordpress, and I don’t care that much. So I guess if I want to blog from my phone I will just type it in notes, then copy and paste into safari.

Photo of the Week…

OK so technically this is not ideally the type of photo I would normally post, but to be honest I haven’t had time to get out with my camera recently. I have some photos still to sort out from a few weeks ago, and some from tonight that I will post in due course.

As you now know from my previous post, I now own an iPhone. A 3 megapixel camera, with a tiny lens is pretty rubbish, but I don’t mind, saying as it is in my phone and it is not my main camera. There are a whole array of photography related apps available for the iPhone, but one of my favourite so far is Polarize. I am a big fan of Polaroid photography, the Polarize app, takes a photo from my photos, and turns it into a fake Polaroid, not quite like the real thing, but good fun none the less.

Here is a fake Polaroid of my dessert in the Ramore Wine Bar, in Portrush this evening. Chocolate Nemesis.

Back to “Proper” photos next week…
